Cantique, a choir
founded in November 2008 in the southern Haute-Vienne, is dedicated
to the exploration and performance of all kinds of choral music,
mainly a capella.
Current members are English, French and Dutch. Membership
of the choir is by informal audition.
The choir, constituted as an association, is based in
the town of Rochechouart in the Haute Vienne department of France
and meets on one full Sunday each month and in between times when
necessary.
In 2010 Cantique hosted a Dutch choir, Cigale, from
Meppel in Northern Holland and two joint concerts were presented in
May in Rochechouart and in Busserolles.
The choir's concert schedule for 2011 has included a
programme of European songs, mainly secular, in French, English,
Estonian and
German.
The programme for
2012 will include, among other works, Haydn's "Little Organ Mass",
Durante's "Magnificat" and Monteverdi's "Beatus
Vir". |
